Annelies Davidson (author)

Since its first appearance in the study edition of Rudolf Steiner’s Eurythmy as Visible Speech, this essay has proved its value. Packed with useful observations, and above all, an examination of the living principles, it is recognized as the most complete introduction to date concerning an important area of eurythmy research and practice. The writer reflects on years of artistic exploration of the English language with Marguerite Lundgren and on her own extensive work. Contributions by other pioneers of eurythmy in the English language round out this helpful introduction to the topic. Eurythmists attempt to access the primal creativity still available, as Rudolf Steiner points out, in the language we speak today. In this way, in the pursuit of their art, eurythmists aim to contribute to the renewal of the word of our time.

Annelies Davidson was born, and now lives again in Leiden, the Netherlands. She graduated from the London School of Eurythmy, England, in 1974. She spent 19 years in England and 33 in the United States living in and working intensely with the English language as a performing artist, teacher, and artistic director of eurythmy. She currently works freelance as a teacher and director, focusing on eurythmy in relation to the spoken word.
